The Ethics Of Leading People: A Workshop For Managers And Leaders
Session Background
To create an environment around them that engenders commitment and trust, leaders must be careful in managing through challenging and delicate situations where there is no obvious answer. Beyond being ethical from a business perspective, they must be clear about their own personal philosophies regarding how they will handle ethical dilemmas related to people. Having clarity about such a personal philosophy serves as the roadmap, and in behaving consistently with one’s philosophy, leaders are more likely to gain the trust of employees.
Session Objectives
- Educate leaders about core principles associated with people management ethics discretion, fairness, honesty, compassion, and trustworthiness.
- Help leaders develop their own personal philosophy and practices regarding how they will manage through challenging ethical people issues.
- Create a framework to help leaders sort through their decision making process as they encounter ethical challenges related to fair and honorable treatment of others. Key questions to include such ones as “Is it legal? Is it right? What is at risk?”
- Create a forum through which leaders can openly share their ethical people related dilemmas and gather feedback from others about how to handle them.
Session Timing
- 1 day workshop
Session Audience
- Mid to senior level professionals (not limited to leaders of people)
